Most small businesses in Nepal do not fall behind on their accounts because they are careless. They fall behind because bookkeeping software asks them to think like an accountant: pick a ledger, choose a voucher type, fill in a form with twelve fields. So the bills go into a drawer, the sales go into a notebook, and three days before filing someone tries to rebuild the whole period from memory. We built afnoCA to remove that gap. You tell it what happened, in the words you would use with a colleague, and it keeps the books.
What afnoCA Is
afnoCA is an online accounting, invoicing and VAT tool made for Nepali businesses by ZilFox Technologies. The name says what it is trying to be: afno CA, your own CA, always at hand. It runs in the browser on a laptop or a phone, so there is nothing to install. Every sale, expense, invoice, bill and VAT figure sits in one place, and the dashboard shows income, expenses, balance and VAT for the Bikram Sambat fiscal year on a single screen. Every number on that dashboard comes from the entries you have saved, so the dashboard and your records can never disagree.
Chat Entry: Record a Sale the Way You Would Say It
This is the part people notice first. There are no forms to learn. You write something like: sold 10 office chairs to Himal Traders at 8,500 each. afnoCA prepares the entry: Rs 85,000 for the goods, Rs 11,050 of VAT at 13%, Rs 96,050 in total, against the right customer. You look it over, correct anything that is off, and only then is it saved. You can write in English, Hindi or Nepali, and you can send a photo of a bill instead of typing it. The chat uses AI to understand what you wrote, but it never saves on its own. The final say is always yours.
13% VAT Worked Out on Every Entry
VAT is where small businesses in Nepal usually get surprised. afnoCA attaches the 13% VAT to every sales and purchase entry as it is made, so three figures are always on screen: the VAT you collected on sales, the VAT you paid on purchases, and the net VAT you owe for the period. You know your position before filing day instead of discovering it on filing day. PAN and VAT bill details are kept with the entry they belong to, so when your CA asks for the bill behind a figure, it is already there.
Invoices That Get Paid, and Bills You Will Not Forget
You can create an invoice and email it to your customer with a link they can open. Totals are shown in words in NPR, the way Nepali invoices are expected to look. As payments arrive you record them, and afnoCA works out whether each invoice is paid, part-paid or late from the payments themselves, so the status is never typed in by hand and never wrong. The other side works the same way: bills you have to pay are listed with what you owe and when. Customers and vendors live in one directory, so you are not keeping names and PAN numbers in three different notebooks.
Built Around How Nepal Actually Files
A lot of accounting software used in Nepal was designed somewhere else and adjusted afterwards. afnoCA started from Nepali practice. Dates and fiscal years follow Bikram Sambat. VAT is 13% by default. Amounts in words are in rupees. When the period closes, one click exports it as an Excel (.xlsx) package that you hand to your CA. That package is the real point: your CA gets complete, organised records and can spend their time advising you instead of chasing missing bills.
Ask Your Documents, Ask Your Books
Every business has a folder of papers it needs twice a year and can never find: the company registration certificate, the PAN and VAT certificates, licences, contracts. On the Vistar plan you upload them once and ask questions later, such as when the company was registered, and afnoCA answers with the document and the page the answer came from, so you can check it yourself. The same idea applies to your numbers. You can ask your books a question and get an answer from your own saved entries. Vistar also lets you attach the bill as proof on every entry, and flags audit exceptions: entries that look wrong, so you can fix them before your CA has to point them out.
No Password to Steal
Accounting data is the last thing you want exposed, so afnoCA has no passwords at all. You enter your username and a six-digit code is emailed to the address on your account. Each code works once and expires in ten minutes, and codes are never stored as plain text. After sign-in, an encrypted session cookie keeps you logged in. Documents and bills you upload are only served to a signed-in session. The only public links are the invoices you choose to send to a customer.
Does afnoCA Replace Your CA?
No, and it is not trying to. A chartered accountant does work that software should not pretend to do: advice, judgement, tax planning and signing off your filings. What afnoCA replaces is the notebook, the drawer of bills and the last-minute scramble. Your records stay tidy and complete through the year, and your CA receives them in a form they can work with straight away. That makes your CA faster, and it usually makes their advice better, because it is based on complete numbers.
Who It Is For
Shops and retailers who want to note each day's sales and purchases in a sentence and keep every VAT bill matched. Restaurants and service businesses who need to track supplier bills and what customers owe without maintaining a spreadsheet. Freelancers and agencies who send invoices by email and want to see at a glance who has paid. Traders and importers who need PAN and VAT bills, documents and payments kept together. If you run a business in Nepal and your accounts currently live in a notebook, Excel or your head, afnoCA is built for you.
Pricing: Aarambha and Vistar
There are two plans, both priced in Nepali rupees for a full year. Aarambha, Nepali for a beginning, costs Rs 999 a year and covers what you need to keep your books in order: chat entry, VAT, invoices, bills, customers and vendors, the dashboard and the CA export. Vistar, Nepali for expansion, costs Rs 1,999 a year and adds company records, proof on every entry, audit exceptions and ask-your-books. For most small businesses, that is less than what one late VAT filing or one missed receivable costs.
Why We Built afnoCA
At ZilFox we build software for businesses across Nepal, and the same problem kept coming up: owners who were good at their trade and tired of their accounts. They did not need more features. They needed bookkeeping that fitted into the way they already talk about their business. afnoCA is our answer to that. If you want to see it, sign in at afnoCA, tell it about your first sale, and see how the books look after a week. If you have questions first, talk to us.
